2026 Toyota GR Corolla Has New Features but Costs About the Same
The Toyota GR Corolla is one of our favorite hot hatches—nay, one of our favorite cars. Period. And for the 2026 model year, Toyota gives it a few new features, which we’ve already heard about when the Japanese version was revealed last week. Still, it’s good to know that the performance-enhancing upgrades also apply to the U.S.-spec GRC.
To make the raciest Corolla more rigid, Toyota added nearly 46 feet of structural adhesive to parts of the front and back of the compact car. The automaker says this also helps improve rear grip. And to help better cool the heavily boosted 1.5-liter turbo three, the GRC has adopted another air intake. Output remains 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, which is funneled to the trick all-wheel-drive system through a standard six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic.
Unlike the previous GR Corolla models, the top-tier Premium Plus trim has an improved JBL audio system that now has nine speakers instead of eight and can do more than blast “Again” by Fetty Wap. By activating the new Active Sound Control feature, passengers will hear fake engine noise pumped into the cabin, which is either entertaining or annoying, depending on who you ask. The GRC Premium Plus also has some desirable standard features, including a carbon-fiber roof, a head-up display, heated seats and steering wheel, and contrast stitching that’s red instead of grey.
Of course, if you want the fully loaded model, you’ll have to pay roughly $6000 more for it. The 2026 Toyota GR Corolla starts at $41,195, which is up $840 from last year. Meanwhile, the Premium Plus now starts at $47,160, which is only $150 more than before. Opting for the automatic transmission tacks an extra $2000 onto the bottom line of both trims. Toyota says the new GRC will reach dealers this fall, so basically any day now.
